With the 2026 fall sports season underway, here is a look at the current records for high school football, volleyball and boys soccer teams across Wayne County.

The standings include Eastern Wayne, Southern Wayne, Wayne Preparatory Academy, Wayne Country Day, Spring Creek, C.B. Aycock, Rosewood, Faith Christian Academy, Goldsboro and Wayne Christian.

Aiden Ramirez-Cruz scored three goals to lead Goldsboro past Sallie B Howard 4-1 in a weather-shortened soccer match. The Cougars led 4-0 at halftime in the first recorded meeting between the programs.

Eastern Wayne made the most of its defensive opportunities Friday night, turning two CB Aycock fumbles into touchdowns in a 14-0 shutout in Pikeville. Zion Evans’ scoop and score proved to be the turning point in a physical game played mostly in the rain. Read more at Neuse News Sports.

Rosewood is 3-2 under first-year head coach Wilson, matching a strong start with two players putting together eye-catching individual performances. Senior Erick Zavala has scored eight goals through five matches, while freshman Collin Gardner has emerged as one of the area’s top young playmakers with six assists and two goals

Goldsboro defeated Rosewood 3-1 on Wednesday, winning 25-21, 14-25, 25-9, 26-24. Brylie Reaves had 12 kills and Addison West finished with 27 digs for the Cougars.

Ezekiel Roberson scored three goals to lead Eastern Wayne to a 6-3 boys soccer victory over Goldsboro. Aiden Ramirez-Cruz scored twice for the Cougars.

Wayne Christian forced six turnovers and returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a 41-0 shutout of Bear Grass Charter. The win gave the Eagles their first 2-0 start since 2022-23.

NNS Weekly Fall Sports Schedule: August 24-30, 2026: Football, Girls Tennis, Boys Soccer, and Volleyball

Eastern Wayne opened the season with a 77-0 shutout of rival Goldsboro, extending its winning streak in the series. The Warriors led 39-0 after the first quarter and got standout performances from Auree Best, Brandon Lark and their defense.

C.B. Aycock forced at least four turnovers and shut out Rosewood 20-0 in the 45th edition of the Little River Rivalry. Devin Lewis scored on a pick-six and a 23-yard reception as the Golden Falcons won their fifth straight matchup in the series.

Goldsboro recorded 28 aces in a three-set sweep of the Saints, winning 25-16, 25-9, 25-13. Taylor Howell led the Cougars with nine aces as Goldsboro improved to 3-1.

C.B. Aycock earned its first win of the season with an 7-2 victory over Goldsboro, showing early promise despite four new starters in the lineup.
