Goldsboro answers Rosewood surge to claim four-set win
Goldsboro had to respond after Rosewood evened the match, and the Cougars did it decisively before holding on late for a 3-1 volleyball win Wednesday in Goldsboro.
The Cougars won 25-21, 14-25, 25-9, 26-24, using a dominant third set to regain control after the Eagles pulled even in the second.
Goldsboro opened with a four-point win in the first set before Rosewood answered with its strongest stretch of the match, taking the second set 25-14. The Cougars then controlled the third, winning 25-9, before closing the match in a tight fourth set that went beyond 25 points.
Brylie Reaves led Goldsboro with 12 kills, while Taylor Howell added nine kills. Addison West finished with 27 digs for the Cougars.
Goldsboro is 4-2 after the win, while Rosewood is 3-2. The Cougars host Wallace-Rose Hill on Thursday, while the Eagles travel to James Kenan.
