Roberson hat trick lifts Eastern Wayne past Goldsboro

Ezekiel Roberson’s three-goal night gave Eastern Wayne the finishing touch it needed Wednesday as the Warriors pulled away from Goldsboro for a 6-3 boys soccer victory.

Roberson, who now has six goals this season, led an Eastern Wayne attack that produced 23 shots on goal. Christ Yao, Keeisy Martinz and Alejandro Villamizar also scored for the Warriors.

Goldsboro generated 13 shots on goal and got two goals from Aiden Ramirez-Cruz, who also has six goals this season. Trent Sheppard added a goal for the Cougars.

Eastern Wayne improved to 1-1 after entering the match 0-1 last week. Goldsboro fell to 1-3 after coming in 1-2 last week.

Goldsboro returns home Thursday, Aug. 27, against Sallie B Howard. Eastern Wayne hosts Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
