Eastern Wayne sweeps Ayden Grifton behind balanced scoring

AYDEN — Eastern Wayne stayed on a strong early-season track and completed a season sweep of Ayden Grifton with a 9-0 soccer victory over the Chargers.

The Warriors improved to 4-1 with the win, while Ayden Grifton fell to 0-4.

Eastern Wayne produced balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Christ Yao, Jaden Ide and Ezekiel Roberson each scored three goals to account for the Warriors’ nine-goal total.

Yao added two assists and two steals, while Ide finished with two assists and four steals. Roberson had one assist and three steals, and Alejandro Villamizar contributed two assists.

The performance continued strong starts for Roberson and Yao. Roberson now has 11 goals on the season, and Yao has seven.

Eastern Wayne is scheduled to play at North Johnston on Sept. 15. Ayden Grifton is scheduled to host Southside on Sept. 17.
