Ramirez-Cruz scores twice as Goldsboro edges Beddingfield

WILSON — Goldsboro continued its recent edge in the series and improved to 4-3 with a 2-1 soccer win over Beddingfield on Sept. 3.

Aiden Ramirez-Cruz scored both goals for the Cougars, raising his season total to 12. Jonathan Perez added an assist for Goldsboro, which generated 25 shots on goal.

Goldsboro led 1-0 after the opening period. Beddingfield answered after the break, but the Cougars matched the Bruins 1-1 in the second period to hold on for the one-goal victory.

Bryson Sternbach made five saves for Goldsboro, helping the Cougars preserve the lead. Beddingfield fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Goldsboro now holds a 4-1 advantage over Beddingfield in the last five meetings. The Cougars host Sallie B Howard on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
