Wayne Christian falls 35-7 to Harrells Christian in Goldsboro

Harrells Christian kept Wayne Christian from extending their win streak on Friday, controlling the line of scrimmage in a 35-7 football victory in Goldsboro.

Wayne Christian entered 2-0 after beating Bear Grass Charter 41-0, but Harrells Christian took charge with its running game. The Crusaders led 6-0 after the first quarter and stretched the lead to 28-0 by halftime.

Harrells Christian extended the margin to 35-0 after the third quarter before Wayne Christian closed the scoring in the fourth.

The Crusaders finished with 253 rushing yards, five touchdowns and no pass attempts. Wayne Christian had 132 rushing yards and 54 passing yards. Jamari Hill had 58 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Conditions were hot and muggy Friday night.

Wayne Christian plays Grace Christian on Sept. 11. Harrells Christian plays Christ School on Sept. 4.
