Eastern Wayne rolls past Ayden Grifton for second win

GOLDSBORO — Eastern Wayne moved above .500 and continued its strong recent run in the series with a 9-2 soccer win over Ayden Grifton.

The Warriors improved to 2-1 with the victory, while the Chargers fell to 0-3. Eastern Wayne has gone 6-1-1 against Ayden Grifton over the last eight meetings.

Christ Yao and Alejandro Villamizar each scored twice for Eastern Wayne. Ezekiel Roberson added a goal and two assists, giving him seven goals this season.

Eastern Wayne entered the match off a 6-3 win over Goldsboro on Aug. 25. Ayden Grifton was coming off a 7-0 loss to Southside on Aug. 31.

Eastern Wayne visits Rosewood on Thursday. Ayden Grifton is scheduled to host Eastern Wayne on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
