Charles B. Aycock’s season came to a close Tuesday night in a tightly contested playoff battle.

Playing at home, the Falcons fell to Person 51-46, ending their season at 11-10. Person entered the matchup at 14-12 and withstood a late Aycock push to secure the five-point victory.

Aycock opened the game struggling offensively, as Person jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead. The early deficit forced the Golden Falcons to play from behind almost immediately.

The offensive struggles continued throughout the first half, as Aycock was held to just 12 total points before the break. Person capitalized on the slow start and carried momentum into halftime.

Head Coach AJ Mundle pointed to the early hole as a key factor.

" We dug ourselves into a hole early. Once we saw the 1st one go in, we had some energy."

Coming out of the locker room, the Golden Falcons showed renewed energy. Aycock rallied after halftime, scoring 17 points in the third quarter to swing the momentum and pull back into contention.

The defensive intensity picked up, and the home crowd came alive as Aycock chipped away at the deficit.

With the game tightening late, Aycock made one final push to extend its season. The Golden Falcons battled down the stretch but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Coach Mundle reflected on the final moments after the game.

" We had our chances. I tried to calm the guys down. We just needed to calm down at the end there."

After the final buzzer, the reality of the season’s end set in for the Golden Falcons.

" That last game is always tough, it’s come quick. Nothing is like playing high school basketball, I told the guys to enjoy this."

The Golden Falcons’ senior class leaves behind an impact that won’t soon be forgotten.

" These seniors mean a lot to me. I know they are gonna be great in whatever they choose."

Despite the early struggles, Aycock showed resilience in the second half and fought until the final buzzer. Finishing the year at 11-10, the Falcons earned a home playoff opportunity and gave their fans a spirited effort.
